I. Introduction to the Postdoctoral Station
The Discipline of Management Science and Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology was established in 1983. In 2011, it was granted the authority to confer doctoral degrees in the first-tier discipline, and in 2014, it obtained the qualification for a postdoctoral research station. In the 2016 Ministry of Education discipline assessment, it ranked 19th nationally. The discipline has seen six individuals receive prestigious national-level honors such as the Chang Jiang Scholars and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and multiple others have been selected for the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Program and various Shanghai talent plans. The discipline currently offers three undergraduate programs: Information Management and Information Systems, Engineering Management, and Logistics Management, all of which have been recognized as national first-class undergraduate programs.
Additionally, the discipline hosts a national teaching team and national first-class undergraduate courses as recognized by the Ministry of Education, and has received two first-class and one second-class awards for teaching achievements in Shanghai. It also operates the "Shanghai Energy Economics and Management Think Tank Base," as well as three university-level research institutions: the "Operations and Supply Chain Management Research Center," the "Financial Physics Research Center," and the "Big Data and Business Intelligence Research Institute." In recent years, the discipline has been granted four national key projects/special projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, one project from the National "Twelfth Five-Year" Science and Technology Support Program, and over 50 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation. Representative achievements have been published as first or corresponding authors in top-tier management journals such as Management Science, PNAS, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and the Journal of Management Science in China. The discipline has also received multiple awards, including the second prize for humanities and social sciences from the Ministry of Education, the first prize for decision-making consulting research in Shanghai, the second prize for natural science in Shanghai, the second prize for scientific and technological progress in Shanghai, and the second prize for philosophy and social sciences in Shanghai.
